COLUMBUS, Ind. — The annual Turning Point Dance Marathon will be this weekend at Central Middle School.
The 17th annual event will bring together high school students for the 12-hour dance from 8 p.m. Saturday to 8 a.m. Sunday.
The goal is to raise awareness about domestic and dating violence.
Statistics show 1 in 3 teenagers will be affected by emotional, physical or sexual abuse by the age of 18. The dance is intended to be a social event and learning experience for teenagers.
Songs by Maroon 5 are the theme for Dance Marathon 2016. The feature song is “She Will Be Loved,” which is centered around how not just “she” needs love or protection but focuses on domestic violence as an issue for both genders.
