COLUMBUS, Ind. — Columbus residents can sit down with a cop over coffee to discuss concerns Thursday.
The police department will debut the informal program that allows law enforcement to meet with the public for discussion in a relaxed atmosphere.
“This program will give us the opportunity to have face-to-face interaction with community members so that we can better understand and address their public safety needs,” said Columbus Police Chief Jonathan Rohde.
The Columbus Coffee with a Cop event is set for March 31 from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at McDonald’s, 2205 W. Jonathan Moore Pike.
CPD spokesperson Lt. Matt Harris added, “Regardless if someone has a question about a police department policy or they want to talk about current events in the community, we look forward to visiting with them.”
Coffee with a Cop programs began in southern California in 2011 and have expanded to more than 2,000 communities.
