WHITELAND, Ind. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Office investigated two seperate scams this week.
A woman received a call from someone posing to be with the National Institute Health Department and was offering her a $14,000 grant. To get the grant she had to send a $400 check. The woman realized it was a scam before giving her financial information.
Another victim was on a computer when a screen popped up asking her to call the listed phone number to be able to use the computer again. She was on the phone 2 hours and even gave her credit card number before finding out it was a hoax.
