JOHNSON COUNTY, Ind. — Deputies with the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call indicating there was a man laying in the roadway late Thursday night.
Arriving on the scene, deputies found the man in a ditch. The man was identified as Patrick Steven Loveday, 66, of Morgantown. He told deputies he and his brother were traveling home from the Crow Bar in Trafalgar when his brother’s driving began to scare him. Patrick told his brother, Terry Loveday, 65, of Morgantown, that he wanted to get out of the vehicle. When Terry stopped to let him out Patrick fell in a ditch and Terry drove off.
Morgan County authorities were notified that Terry was likely en route to their jurisdiction. Morgantown Police located Terry and it appeared he had been involved in a traffic accident. Officers found a half-full fifth of Fireball whisky inside the vehicle. After an investigation, law enforcement located a damaged guardrail on a bridge that still had pieces of Terry’s vehicle stuck in the broken guardrail.
Patrick was treated by medics and released at the scene and Terry was transported to Johnson Memorial Hospital before being taken to Johnson County Jail for suspicion of driving under the influence.
