JAMESTOWN, NY — Cummins Inc. has announced that limited production of the new X15 engine has begun at the Jamestown, New York production facility. The heavy duty X15 sets new standards for reliability and fuel economy.

The engine exceeds the 2017 Environmental Protection Agency’s greenhouse gas emissions and fuel efficiency standards from power plants from 400 to 605 horsepower. There are two options for customers, the X15 Performance Series and the X15 Efficiency Series. Both are available on a limited basis for the remainder of 2016 Full production will begin in 2017.
The X15 produces 20 percent better fuel economy and 40 percent lower maintenance costs than the 2010 ISX15. The engine is delivered factory-ready to connect to a telematics system that enables remote programming, customization and diagnostics. The platform is designed for heavy-hauling, vocational, and emergency vehicles.
