COLUMBUS, Ind. — A one-vehicle traffic accident injured one person Thursday in Bartholomew County.
A report from the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department says a car driven by Juan Mendez, 35, of Columbus, was northbound on County Road 340E when he drove off the side of the road and rolled several times. Mendez and a passenger, Lazaro Hernandez-Moheno, were able escape the wreckage before the car burst into flames. Mendez was life-lined from the scene. His condition is unknown.
During the investigation, deputies determined Hernandez-Moheno had an outstanding Bartholomew County warrant. He is being held in the Bartholomew County Jail.
