COLUMBUS, Ind. — After a 7-year run, the Columbus ArtFest will be no more. Organizers made the decision after the lowest attendance numbers in history in 2016.
In 2016, the festival was moved to Mill Race Park from the 4th and Washington Street area. At Mill Race Park the event attracted about 1,000 people compared to 2,500 when it was held downtown.
Columbus ArtFest joins Chautauqua of the Arts and the Lazy River Arts and Craft Festival as the third Columbus area art festival to shut down because of weak attendance. The festivals have had difficulty competing with similar events in Bloomington, Indianapolis, and Madison.
