SEYMOUR, Ind. — Premier Companies has announced plans to build a new, 15,000-square-foot facility and double its workforce in Seymour. The agricultural business that merged with Jackson-Jennings Co-op received a 10-year tax abatement on the project valued at $2 million. Premier Ag Co-op plans to sell the building they currently occupy on Community Drive in the spring of 2017. The new facility is expected to be complete in July 2017.
As a part of the project, Premier will close its Columbus office and consolidate those employees at the new Seymour location on West Second Street. The transfer of the Columbus employees to Seymour will centralize operations, and when the consolidation is complete, 18 new jobs will be created with a total payroll of $2.5 million.
Bartholomew County commissioners purchased Premier’s Columbus facilities and could relocate Bartholomew County Soil and Water Conservation and the Purdue Extension of Bartholomew County to that site.
