COLUMBUS, Ind. — After six years in office, Wayne Township trustee Clint Madden has stepped down as an investigation continues by the Indiana State Board of Accounts. Madden cited personal reasons for his resignation.
Details of the investigation have not been made public and won’t be until state auditors finish their work.
Madden was elected with an overwhelming majority over Democrat Pamela Huffman-Meek in 2010. Even though Madden is a veteran volunteer firefighter, he has been accused by other officials of not properly equipping members of the Wayne Township Volunteer Fire Department during his term.
Madden’s likely successor is Brenda Mijares, the office administrator for the Bartholomew County Prosecutor. She is the only person who has filed the proper paperwork. Members of the Republican Precinct Committee will make that decision Monday.
