GREENWOOD, Ind. — Howard the Dog is a 12-year-old Golden Retriever suffering from terminal cancer and he is now an honorary Greenwood canine officer.
Johnson County Humane Society director, Anne Sutton and her staff came up with a “bucket list” for Howard to make his last days memorable. One of those wishes was to become an honorary canine officer with the Greenwood Police Department. Chief John Laut enthusiastically agreed to the plan citing his department’s love for animals and desire to spread goodwill in the community.
Monday, in a ceremony at the Greenwood Police Department, Howard was presented with his badge and is now an honorary member of the Greenwood canine police team.
The Johnson County Humane Society has plans to take Howard to a local park, take him to Mrs. Curls for ice cream, and make him an honorary member of the White River Township Fire Department.
Congratulations Howard!
