SEYMOUR, Ind. — A third fire station will be added in Jackson County to improve response times for residents in the Mutton Creek Subdivision, along U.S. 31 and U.S. 50, east of Seymour. The new facility will also enable more efficient mutual response to the Reddington area. The addition will likely reduce insurance rates for area property owners. The new fire station will be located in the 11000 block of East County 500 North.
The Jackson-Washington Township Volunteer Fire Department has most of the cash on-hand to purchase the lot, due to the sale of former locations at Hangman Crossing and Kriete’s Corner.
The department serves all of Jackson Township outside the Seymour city limits and all of Washington Township.
