INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Officials from the Indiana Secretary of State’s office have found more irregularities with voter registration applications recently. Birth dates and first names were thought to have been changed on thousands of applications without the knowledge of the voter. However, Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson now believes most of the applications in question were changed by the voter prior to the registration deadline, October 11.
Some of the discoveries were made by voters attempting to verify their registration at indianavoters.in.gov/PublicSite/PublicMain.aspx, and others were found by the office of Secretary of State.
Voters that do discover problems with their registration should call the clerk in the in which they reside. Corrections can be made in order to make sure registered voters get the opportunity to cast their ballot on November 8.
This investigation is in addition to the probe into the activities of the Indiana Voter Project.
In Bartholomew County, 1400 people have already cast an early ballot and clerk Jay Phelps says there have only been a handful of problems.
