GREENWOOD, Ind. — A Fishers police officer is facing charges after a fight in Greenwood over the weekend.
Fishers Police Department patrolman Charles Kingery, 28, has been suspended and charged with one count of battery by the Johnson County prosecutor. The Fishers Police Department is conducting an internal investigation.
Greenwood police say the altercation occurred during a fight at a reception hall Saturday. Kingery’s wife told police her husband had been drinking and got into an altercation with another person. When another man intervened, Kingery punched him in the face and left the reception. Police found Kingery at his mother’s home a short time later and arrested him. Witnesses confirmed the wife’s account of the incident.
The victim was transported to a local emergency room and treated for a broken nose and is recovering.
