PLAINFIELD, Ind. — Fifty-five new state troopers graduated from the 76th Indiana State Police Recruit Academy Thursday. The class included Dereck Eggers and Devin Farmer from Columbus and Joseph Malone from Franklin.
The troopers conducted 22 weeks of training that included instruction in emergency vehicle operations, firearms, crash investigations, criminal and traffic laws, and defensive tactics.
The troopers will now report to their assigned posts throughout the state and complete three months of field training. During their time with field training officers, they will begin the practical application of the skills they have learned. When that phase is completed the troopers will receive their own patrol car and begin patrolling the communities they serve.
