HOLTON, Ind. — A Police action shooting in the Holton area is under investigation by the Ripley County prosecutor’s office.
Indiana State Police, Ripley County Sheriff’s deputies and Excise Police responded to the 4700 block of North County Road 850W for a domestic disturbance at 5 p.m. Friday. Police found the homeowner, Timmy Wayne Bowman, 48, barricaded inside the residence.
During negotiations, officers say Bowman exited the home and fired at police. A four-year veteran state trooper returned fire and struck Bowman, and he then retreated back into the residence.
At 10 p.m., Bowman surrendered to officers. Police immediately administered first aid until EMTs arrived. Bowman was flown to a Cincinnati area hospital, his condition is not known.
