BATESVILLE, Ind. — Indiana State Police responded to a single vehicle accident on Interstate 74 in Ripley County, around 6:55 Thursday morning. Both individuals in the vehicle were reportedly injured and they were quickly transported to area hospitals.
Trooper Chad Snyder indicated, upon an initial investigation, that a 1998 Ford F-150, driven by Johnathan A. Orr, 32, of Greensburg, Indiana, was traveling eastbound on I-74 near the 157-mile marker. Apparently, Orr lost control of the vehicle after a tire became deflated. The vehicle traveled into the median prior to overturning, rolling, and finally coming to rest in the westbound lanes of I-74.
After sustaining serious injuries, Orr was air lifted from the scene of the crash to University of Cincinnati Hospital for treatment. Passenger, Joshua L. Sangl, 27, from Saint Paul, IN, also sustained injuries during the crash. Sangl was taken to Margaret Mary Hospital in Batesville, Indiana for treatment. Currently, the severity of the injuries of both individuals is not known. The investigation is ongoing.
