CAMP ATTERBURY, Ind. — Indiana Governor and Vice President-Elect of the United States, Mike Pence, delivered comments to several hundred people at a Camp Atterbury Veteran’s Day event Friday. Pence arrived on time in a motorcade that included motorcycles, police cars, and three black SUVs.
During his remarks he complimented the staff at Camp Atterbury for their hard work and dedication. He recognized state legislators in attendance and even referred to his mother who was sitting in the front row of the crowd. Pence took the opportunity to talk about the sacrifices his father made as a Korean War veteran and expressed pride in his son, currently serving in the U.S. Marines. He also reaffirmed President-Elect Donald Trump’s commitment to improving care for veterans through the Veteran’s Administration. He told the crowd that health care and benefits for veterans are not an entitlement, they are part of their compensation for their sacrifices.
