BEAN BLOSSOM, Ind. — Investigators believe some time Saturday night vandals painted a swastika and other offensive phrases on the St. David’s Episcopal Church in Bean Blossom. The parishioners have left the graffiti on the church for the time being to hopefully provide a teaching point for the public.
Church leaders believe they have been targeted because of their policy on openness, and because they have conducted a same-sex marriage in the past. Also, they are committed to not allowing hate from others dim the love they have for Christ and the world.
Brown County Sheriff, Scott Southerland, said, “This act does not reflect the values of the people of Brown County, who are generally very tolerant, except to people who commit crimes of this nature.”
