COLUMBUS, Ind. — Fire scorched seven acres in western Bartholomew County Wednesday afternoon. The Harrison Township Fire Department arrived on the scene in the 14600 block of West Baker Hollow Road at 2:17 p.m., and quickly called for assistance.
The fire was on steep terrain and close to several buildings as firefighters began a perimeter attack. A total of 10 fire departments, 23 fire apparatus and a helicopter worked about 90 minutes to get the blaze under control. Firefighters remained on the scene until around 6 p.m., putting out small fires in the seven-acre area.
The Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Department and the county fire inspector are conducting an investigation.
