COLUMBUS, Ind. — Catching repeat offenders has become a primary goal of the Columbus Police Department, and has resulted in four recent arrests. The arrests were a result of outstanding warrants and charges related to narcotics and firearms earlier this week.
On Tuesday night, law enforcement officers apprehended Columbus resident Kimberly K. Townsend, 48, on two counts of dealing methamphetamine. Townsend was part of an extensive investigation involving narcotics that have been sold throughout the community.
On Wednesday around 6:40 p.m., Officers noticed two wanted individuals riding bicycles in the 1300 block of Chestnut Street. Tiffany J. Coleman, 43, and Michael A. Coleman, 49, both of Columbus, were stopped by law enforcement and subsequently searched.
Upon searching Tiffany Coleman, officers discovered a pipe with methamphetamine inside, and a small scale. While talking with Michael Coleman, the officers noticed a marijuana cigarette hidden behind his ear. Both individuals were taken into custody. Upon further investigation, an additional amount of methamphetamine was located.
An additional arrest was made on Wednesday evening. Damon L. Bailey, 42, of Indianapolis, was apprehended on several felony charges after he was pulled over at around 10:30 p.m. in the 1100 block of Washington Street. It was discovered that Bailey had a suspended driver’s license. He was taken into custody at that time, and while searching him prior to the taking him to jail, officers noticed methamphetamine and marijuana in a bag that was tucked into Bailey’s pants. Money, totaling close to $900, was also recovered from Bailey’s pockets. A loaded handgun with an altered serial number, a digital scale and several small empty plastic bags were also found in Bailey’s vehicle.
All four of these suspects were taken to the Bartholomew County Jail, where they were remanded on the appropriate preliminary charges:
