FRANKLIN, Ind. — The Johnson County Sheriff’s Department is investigating a burglary that took place Thursday on Park Forest Drive South in Franklin.
The victim told police she left her purse hanging on a kitchen chair when she went to bed at 9 p.m., and noticed it was missing when she got up to let an animal out around 3 a.m. During the investigation at the home, a backpack was found in the victim’s trash can that contained a stolen laptop. The laptop has been returned to the owner.
Investigators from the Johnson County Sheriff’s Department and Whiteland Police Department are following leads in the case.
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says always lock doors and windows, and never leave valuables in open view.
