GREENWOOD, Ind. — Erratic driving led to the recovery of a stolen vehicle and a drug arrest in Johnson County early Tuesday.
Johnson County Sheriff Doug Cox says, deputies stopped a vehicle driven by Michael Carney 21, of Indianapolis, near Smith Valley and Peterman Roads around 1:20 a.m. During the stop, the officer determined the vehicle had been reported stolen from Marion County. As the investigation continued, deputies determined Carney was driving while suspended. Police asked Carney to exit the vehicle and noticed he did not have shoes or socks and was wearing a T-shirt. When the deputy allowed Carney to retrieve a coat from the back seat, the officer observed a glass pipe in the back seat. Carney told police the pipe was his and he was placed under arrest.
Carney was charged with possession of stolen property, possession of paraphernalia, and taken to the Johnson County Jail.
