INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Hoosier Triple A estimates more than 103 million Americans will travel during the holiday period. The report says 96.5 million people will travel by car, an increase of 1.5 percent from last year. Air travel is projected to increase by 2.5 percent. The travel period is defined as December 23 through January 2.
The national average gas price is $2.22, that’s up from an average of $2.01 from 2015. The increase has been blamed on an OPEC move to cut production that caused a rally in oil prices.
