COLUMBUS, Ind. — Two Hope residents are facing drug and weapons charges after a Tuesday traffic stop by Columbus police around 11:15 p.m.
Officers stopped a vehicle driven by Jermaine Ford, 31, in the 800 block of Werner Avenue in Columbus, because of a registration problem. During the pull-over, police detected the strong odor of marijuana. While searching the vehicle, law enforcement found marijuana, methamphetamine, a handgun and $2,100 in cash.
Ford has been charged with an outstanding warrant from Cook County, Illinois, possession of a handgun by a violent felon, possession of handgun without a license, possession of marijuana, possession of methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana and dealing in methamphetamine.
A passenger, Cassandra Absher, 30, was arrested for possession of marijuana, dealing in methamphetamine, dealing in marijuana and trafficking.
