SEYMOUR, Ind. — The Indiana Office of Early Childhood and Out-of-School Learning is accepting applications from select Jackson County families for state funded pre-kindergarten.
“On My Way Pre-K” is for families that have an annual income that is 127 percent lower than the poverty rate, and children must be at least four years of age by August 1, 2017. Once a child is approved for the grant, families will select an eligible program in the area.
Applications are online at in.gov/fssa/4948.htm, or for more information, call 812-273-9270.
Research by the Pew Charitable Trust shows children who participate in Pre-K programs are less likely to be held back a grade, less likely to need special education, and more likely to graduate from high school. Additionally, classroom with prepared students are much more productive and efficient.
