WASHINGTON D.C. — Donald Trump and Columbus native Mike Pence have been sworn in as the President and Vice President of the United States of America.
President Trump delivered a 16-minute speech, the second shortest in history, that pledged to transfer power to the people and revive the economy. He also expressed frustration that lawmakers in power have consistently made gains while the citizens of the country have struggled. The speech also sent a message to world leaders that the 45th President will have a different approach when it comes to foreign relations.
Vice President Mike Pence, with his family nearby, was given the oath of office by Associate Justice of the Supreme Court Clarence Thomas. At the conclusion of the ceremony, Pence appeared to be somewhat emotional as he waved to the crowd.
