FRANKLIN, Ind. — Johnson County Deputies arrested a Whiteland man and recovered a stolen vehicle after slide-off Friday evening.
Around 7 p.m. police found Michael Mullis, 37, in the 7000 block of Mauxferry Road lying on the ground near the vehicle with a shovel. When police questioned Mullis they detected a strong smell of alcohol and slurred speech. Police also found a bag containing prescription medication lying in the ditch where Mullis had been. During questioning Mullis told police the drugs belonged to him and he had consumed alcohol prior to driving the vehicle. During the investigation police determined the vehicle had been stolen from an Edinburgh resident.
Mullis was arrested for possession of a controlled substance and theft and transported to the Bartholomew County Jail.
