COLUMBUS, Ind. — The deadline to sign up for healthcare under the Affordable Care Act is Tuesday, January 31. Resident s can begin the process at healthcare.gov/.
In order to complete the process residents must have names, date of birth, income information and relationship to the applicant. If you already have healthcare under the plan it will be automatically renewed as long as there are no changes.
Residents that are not enrolled and haven’t had health insurance for three months or longer, will incur a penalty of 2.5 percent of their income or a flat fee of $695, whichever is greater.
Residents living in poverty can apply for Medicaid or the Children’s Health Insurance Program anytime. There are income restrictions and other qualifiers for the programs.
