COLUMBUS, Ind. — An inmate in the Bartholomew County Jail has been charged in an alleged attack on a corrections officer. Police say Dustin Leatherbury, 28, battered officer James Oldham when he intervened in a dispute Leatherbury was having with another inmate. Oldham was treated and released.
Leatherbury has been an inmate since November 2016 when he was arrested for failure to appear for an auto theft charge. Leatherbury now faces charges of battery on a public servant resulting in bodily injury and battery by bodily waste. Both are felonies.
