INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Columbus Mayor Jim Lienhoop met with Governor Eric Holcomb and State Representative Milo Smith on February 7. During the meeting the group discussed increased train traffic, substance abuse and treatment, budget procedures and education.
Lienhoop was able to provide Holcomb with data describing the increased volume of train traffic and its estimated economic impact in Columbus. The group also reviewed options to reduce congestion that have been presented to INDOT.
During a conversation about substance abuse, Holcomb was briefed on the new initiative proposed by the Healthy Communities Council.
Lienhoop also expressed support for the proposal made by Indiana University to add a Masters of Architecture degree based in Columbus. The Indiana Commission on Higher Education will vote on that matter in March.
