COLUMBUS, Ind. (updated Sunday, 9:30 a.m.) —
A Friday afternoon accident on U.S. 31 North and Commerce Drive took the life of one person.
Around 4:15 p.m., William Everroad, 80, did not see a truck slowing in front of him, resulting in a rear end collision. Members of the Columbus Fire Department cut the top of the car off to free the driver. Everroad died later in an Indianapolis hospital.

(Saturday, February 18, 6:20 a.m.) A Friday afternoon crash on U.S. 31 North and Commerce Drive seriously injured one person.
Around 4:15 p.m., an unidentified driver did not see a truck slowing in front of him and the result was a rear end collision. Members of the Columbus Fire Department cut the top of the car off to free the driver. He was flown to an Indianapolis hospital.
The condition of the driver is not known at this time, and the accident remains under investigation.
