BROWNSTOWN, Ind. — First responders from three agencies pulled a husband and wife to safety from the White River on Sunday.
Around 2 p.m., officers found Carl Bottorff, 52, and Mechelle Bottorff, 43, in a boat that was taking on water after it had gone over a portion of the Rockford Dam. Police were able to attach a line and pull the couple to shore. Both were treated at Schneck Medical Center.
Bottorff explained to police his trolling motor had malfunctioned and they couldn’t start the gas engine before hitting the dam.
