HELTONVILLE, Ind. — A Columbus man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Lawrence County on Tuesday evening around 6:30.
The Lawrence County Sheriff’s Department says David Duncan, 70, was northbound on State Road 446, near Mundell Church Road, when he drove off the right side of the highway, down an embankment and struck two trees.
First responders removed Duncan from the vehicle and began life-saving measures. Workers used a defibrillator and gave him CPR on the way to St. Vincent Dunn Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police say are not sure why Duncan drove off the road. There were no skid marks on the pavement or in the grassy area.
