SHELBYVILLE, Ind. — A Shelbyville woman was killed Wednesday evening while walking across State Road 9, near Intelliplex Drive.
Police and fire crews were dispatched to the scene around 7:10 p.m. After investigating the incident, they determined that a semi-truck driven by James Stemen, of Grosse Isle, Michigan, was heading north on State Road 9, when he struck Bonnie Smiley, 69, as she tried to cross the highway. Smiley was pronounced dead at the scene. Police do not suspect alcohol, drugs or foul play.
The accident remains under investigation.
