COLUMBUS, Ind. — Bartholomew County Sheriff’s deputies made two drug arrests during a routine traffic stop Monday. Sheriff reports indicate at 7 p.m., deputies observed a van driven by Clarissa Powers, 38, near the intersection of Legal Tender Road and County Road 600S. Her passenger, Lovely Brown, 29, of North Vernon, was known to be wanted for an outstanding warrant. Deputies stopped the van and Brown was immediately taken from the vehicle and arrested.
After a police canine gave a positive indication for narcotics, a search of the van uncovered marijuana. Police also found a controlled substance in the possession of Brown.
Powers was arrested for possession of marijuana. Brown was arrested for an outstanding Jennings County warrant and possession of a controlled substance.
