INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — Indiana Attorney General Curtis Hill is warning local college basketball fans to be very careful when purchasing game tickets on the secondary market.
The Consumer Protection Division says most secondary transactions are cash and that makes it difficult to trace. Officials say perspective buyers should take steps to validate the authenticity of tickets available for sale. They recommend using an established ticket broker.
If tickets must be purchased on the secondary market, follow these guidelines provided:
- Double check the date and time on the ticket
- Try to compare the tickets with a verified ticket, while in the possession of the seller
- Get the name and phone number of the person selling the ticket
- Try to inquire with different brokers to get the best price while examining each ticket for authenticity
