COLUMBUS, Ind. — Republican state representative from Columbus, Milo Smith, was recently honored by the National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association. The resolution recognizes the work done in 72 of Indiana’s 92 counties.
“CASA volunteers not only do an amazing service for the children in the courts, but they are also role models,” Smith said. “Last year, 4,000 CASA volunteers provided a voice for 26,762 children in child abuse and neglect cases and 2,920 children in termination of parental rights cases.”
CASA programs recruit and train volunteers to help children involved in legal cases. In many cases, this person will provide advice and comfort to the child. For more information about the program, go online to childadvocatesnetwork.org/.
