INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. — A report from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics shows the state of Indiana has the lowest unemployment rate for veterans in the country. In 2016, only 1.8 percent of Hoosier veterans were jobless.
“Hoosier veterans bring tremendous skill and experience to Indiana’s workforce, and we should use every tool at our disposal to honor and support them when they retire,” Governor Eric J. Holcomb said. “That’s why I’m proposing income tax exemptions for military pensions—just as many other states across the nation have already done.”
The Indiana Department of Workforce Development and WorkOne Career Centers across the state are credited with helping keep that number low. The centers offer comprehensive services state-wide.
