BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY, Ind. – Dispatchers in Bartholomew County and across the country are being recognized this week for their behind-the-scene efforts to save and protect lives.
Bartholomew County EOC Director Ed Reuter said dispatchers don’t have any time to decompress. “When they hang up on the call and they may hang up on a heart attack and come right back and they’ve got a severe domestic or shooting, so there is really no down time for them.”
Reuter said National Telecommunicators Week is something that is well deserved for the 26 employees that respond to the over 41,000 calls they receive in the 911 center each year.
