COLUMBUS, Ind.—Last week, the Riverfront Community Committee selected a design for the redevelopment of the Flat Rock River waterfront between the Second and Third Street bridges. Heather Pope describes it as “Sinuosity,” and says it mirrors features that are seen in Mill Race Park. The committee felt the design went better with nature and felt more consistent with the look Columbus has already established. The other design, called “Building Blocks,” was more geometric, but had a few features that the committee asked Hitchcock Design Group to incorporate into the final design of the project. From here, the redevelopment committee will seek funding from the city council and the board of works in order to move forward with the project.
