COLUMBUS, Ind.–The Board of Public Works and Safety approved a contract this past week between the Columbus Fire Department and HST Solutions to design a new training facility to be built at the Columbus AirPark. The new building will provide indoor training areas, along with two classrooms. At the Tuesday city council meeting, a non-reverting fund was set up so that once the facility is built, fees can be collected anytime another fire department or emergency service needs to use the building. Chief Mike Compton hopes that groundbreaking on the project will begin sometime in November.
