COLUMBUS, Ind.–(Update) Local News Digital has learned the identity of the alleged shooter in Sunday’s shooting at Quail Run Apartments. Lt. Matt Harris with the Columbus Police Department says that John Cornett, 34, of Columbus, was identified as the person who shot Joshua Music, 32, of Edinburgh. The victim remains hospitalized. Harris added that more information will be released as the investigation continues.
(Original) A man is in custody following a Sunday afternoon shooting at an apartment complex in Columbus. Officers were dispatched to Quail Run Apartments, near 10th Street and McClure Road, shortly before 2:30 p.m., according to Columbus Police Department’s public information officer Lt. Matt Harris. By the time law enforcement arrived at the scene, the victim had already been taken the short distance to Columbus Regional Health (CRH). After a brief stay at the local hospital, he was flown to Indiana University Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
CPD found the shooting suspect still at the residence and arrested him without incident. He was transported to Bartholomew County Jail.
The incident is still under investigation. The names of the alleged shooter and the victim have not yet been released.
