COLUMBUS, Ind. – Construction could begin as early as this spring on a new Columbus skate park now that the city has received a $50,000 matching grant. The new 12,000-square-foot facility in Clifty Park will replace the original wooden structure that has deteriorated over the past 20 years, according to park officials.
The park will still be called The Jolie Crider Memorial Skate Park. Crider, an avid skateboarder, was a 14-year-old Columbus North High School student who died as the result of meningitis in 1998.
In addition to the recent $50,000 matching award, the facility is funded by Columbus Parks and Recreation, private donations and additional grants.
