COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team (JNET), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and Alcohol Firearms and Tobacco (AFT) agents secured an arrest warrant for federal weapons charges on Wednesday for Shawn Miller, 40, 1275 S. Jonesville Rd. The three agencies conducted surveillance on Miller’s residence and observed him and two other males leave in a vehicle. Intelligence Led Policing officers from the Columbus Police Department and the Indiana State Police all Crimes Policing Unit (ACP) conducted a traffic stop and Miller was arrested without incident.
JNET and ISP units remained at Miller’s residence and made contact with a female, identified as Amie Chapman, 31, of Lake Wales, Florida. Law enforcement says a white crystal, powdery substance, a green plant-like substance, and pills were in plain view inside the home. Officers also allegedly found approximately six ounces of methamphetamine, about two grams of heroin, multiple pills, marijuana, and paraphernalia.
Miller was first transported to the Bartholomew County Jail before ATF transferred him to Marion County. He was preliminarily charged with dealing in methamphetamine, possession of meth, possession of heroin, possession of paraphernalia, possession of a controlled substance, possession of a legend drug, possession of marijuana, maintaining a common nuisance, and the federal weapons warrant.
Chapman was booked at Bartholomew County Jail for possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, possession of paraphernalia, and maintaining a common nuisance.
“This is a perfect example of multiple agencies working well together. Information sharing, among ACP, JNET, and CPD, has been a huge asset in these investigations,” said Bartholomew County Sheriff Matt Myers.
The Joint Narcotics Enforcement Team, a combined unit of the Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office, the Columbus Police Department and the Bartholomew County Prosecutor’s Office, is proactively targeting the manufacturing and abuse of dangerous drugs in Columbus and Bartholomew County.
