INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Education announced the 2019 Gold Star Schools, and Jennings County Middle School was once again honored with the designation. A Gold Star school signifies that a school counselor-led steering team has met specific criteria for the development of a comprehensive school counseling model. In order to receive the award, schools have to undergo a rigorous process to raise student achievement and improve overall student success.
“Receiving Gold Star designation is evidence of a strong, collaborative, and successful school climate,” said state superintendent Dr. Jennifer McCormick. “I commend 2019 Gold Star schools for understanding the positive impact school counselors and community members have in helping students prepare for the future.”
A total of 13 schools received the designation this year, and five of them renewed their Gold Star status. Jennings County Middle School was one of the five.
