COLUMBUS, Ind. – The annual Columbus Fireman’s Chili Cook-Off is scheduled for Friday, November 1, at 5:30 p.m., at Fair Oaks Mall. It benefits the Columbus Fireman’s Cheer Fund which distributes toys, clothes, and other presents to kids who otherwise would not have a Christmas.
Firefighters from the Columbus Fire Department prepare and serve their favorite chili recipes. Chili, drink, and dessert is only $5, or add a sandwich to that meal for another $2. Endless chili, drink, and dessert is just $10. To-go bowls are available.
The Columbus Firemen’s Cheer Fund, founded in 1930, is known as the oldest charity in Bartholomew County that depends solely on public donations for its existence. It is one of several efforts in the community providing the less-fortunate with useful gifts at Christmastime.
