COLUMBUS, Ind. – The Columbus Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (CAMPO) hosted an open house Monday to unveil the draft of its 2020-2024 Transportation Improvement Plan. Among others, the projects include road construction, bridge rehabilitation and replacement, People Trail connections, and transit funding.
Some of the designs are in connection with the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), such as the Interstate 65 overpasses at Tannehill Road, Carr Hill Road, and County Road 200S. INDOT is also a partner with the travel lanes on I-65, the State Road 46 overpass over the Louisville & Indianapolis Railroad at the intersection with State Road 11, and railroad crossing safety improvements.
City and county projects involve the two phases of Lowell Road improvement, the County Road 350W at Goeller Boulevard upgrade, the two phases of Taylor Road enhancement, and the Talley Road improvement.
Those at the CAMPO open house learned that the plan also includes 50 percent of operating costs toward ColumBUS transit funding over five years, a vanpool program, and route study implementation.
