INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Indiana Department of Workforce Development has released its August statistics and they show the state’s monthly unemployment rate dropping to 6.4%. The national rate is 8.4%. The rate is an indicator reflecting the number of unemployed people seeking employment within the prior four weeks.
Indiana’s labor force had a net increase of 41,752 over the previous month, resulting from a decrease of 46,693 unemployed residents and an increase of 88,445 workers. The total labor force, including Hoosiers employed and those seeking employment, is 3.36 million. The state’s 63.5% labor force rate is above the national rate of 61.7%.
