NORTH VERNON, Ind. – The Jennings County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a man being shot in the northwestern part of the county on Friday at around 7:15 p.m. A homeowner called dispatch and reported that a man had broken into his house, a physical altercation had ensued, and that he had shot the man who then fled.
While en-route, deputies were informed that a male with a gunshot wound had shown up at the Elizabethtown Fire Department. The alleged home intruder had driven to the fire station where medical aid was provided.
Indiana State Police is conducting an investigation.
The suspect was airlifted to an Indianapolis area hospital where he was listed in critical condition.
