FRANKLIN, Ind. – The Johnson County Public Library (JCPL) Foundation recently announced that it received a $10,000 Powerful Communities Nature Grant from the Duke Energy Foundation. The money will be used for shade trees and native plants at the Nature Trail and Community Garden on the grounds of the new Johnson County Public Library Clark Pleasant Branch, in Whiteland.
JCPL Director, Lisa Lintner stated, “We are so pleased that Duke Energy chose to support JCPL’s effort to improve our county’s quality of life by building a nature trail and opening a community garden at our new branch. Libraries are essential community centers.”
The award is one of 17 grants totaling $190,000 that the Duke Energy Foundation allocated. The funds support a wide range of environmental initiatives across Indiana.
